West Orange Holds First-Ever Ramadan Celebration At Town Hall
Ramadan is a time of reflection, spiritual growth and communal unity for Muslims around the world, including in West Orange.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange held its first-ever Ramadan celebration at Town Hall last weekend as the world prepares for the start of this year’s holiday.
The rainy weekend weather couldn’t stop the smiles as celebrants put up a bright, shining “Crescent Moon” in front of the municipal building. Those present – including Mayor Susan McCartney – thanked the organizers and the local public works department for pitching in at the event.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, spiritual growth, and communal unity. It is a month of profound significance for Muslims around the world, marking the period during which the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad as a time of fasting, prayer, charity, and self-discipline.”
McCartney expressed her hope that this month will be a “source of blessings, peace, and spiritual growth for all to cultivate kindness, compassion, and goodwill within the West Orange community.”
