West Orange Jazz Fest Will Return For 2023: See Details

WEST ORANGE, NJ — UPDATE: The festival has been postponed to Saturday, Oct. 7 due to a forecast of inclement weather. Our original article follows below.

The annual West Orange Jazz Fest will return to the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC) on Saturday, Sept. 23.

According to organizers, the 2023 lineup includes musicians from across the jazz spectrum: Latin jazz by Carlos Frias and Circulo Social, progressive jazz sounds by Charisa, the Violin Diva, and the contemporary melodies of Ty Stephens and SoulJaazz.

Organizers continued:

“Again this year, we bring you the best of the older generation as well as the brightest young artists. Representing the next generation of jazz is Mecadon McCune, this year’s recipient of the James Moody Scholarship. He will be leading his band on the OSPAC stage in their debut performance. We will also be welcoming Warren Battiste and honoring him for his many contributions to American jazz. Leonieke Scheuble and Generations of Jazz bring together artists ranging in age from 23 to 95. Rounding out the event, we have JD Warren & the Rudiment, a New York-based band with an international following, and the Nat Adderly Jr. Quartet led by the Grammy nominated pianist and songwriter Nat Adderly Jr.”

Gates open at 4 Boland Drive at 1:30 p.m. and music will run until 9 p.m. The event will include food vendors and the beer/wine pavilion will be open. Free parking and indoor restrooms will be available. A rain date is set for Sept. 24.
