On Wednesday, Jan. 19, the West Orange Public Library will present “Happy 213th Birthday, Edgar Allan Poe!”
Take a look at the life of America’s favorite troubled soul as the West Orange Public Library celebrates Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday. The 19th-century poet, fiction writer, editor and literary critic is best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre and was one of the earliest American writers of the short story. He even helped develop modern code cracking, a tool that helped the Allies win World War II. Join West Orange resident and independent Poe scholar Ava Caridad as we learn more about Poe, his troubled life and times and his contribution to many of our modern ways of thinking.
