West Orange Man Hurt Trying To Put Out Home Fire: Officials

A West Orange man suffered injuries while trying to put out a fire in his Marie Terrace home, authorities said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A West Orange man suffered injuries while trying to put out a fire in his home early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to a town spokesperson, a fire broke out in the 51-year-old man’s home on Marie Terrace. West Orange firefighters arrived on the scene around midnight and put out the fire in about 15 minutes.

The man suffered burns to his arms after he allegedly tried to put out the fire prior to the arrival of firefighters. Emergency responders transported the injured man to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, where he was treated and released, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said. No additional information was immediately available.
