West Orange Police Hand Out 18 Parking Tickets On Fairmount In 1 Night
There has been an uptick of complaints at several locations in town, including Fairmount Terrace, West Orange police said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Police in West Orange gave out more than a dozen tickets for overnight parking violations on Fairmount Terrace early Sunday morning, authorities say.
According to the West Orange Police Department, officers distributed 18 summonses around 2 a.m. The tickets were issued after the police chief’s office received a complaint that cars are repeatedly parking overnight on Fairmount Terrace without being ticketed.
There has also been an uptick of complaints and calls for more enforcement in the Main Street, Lakeside Avenue, Charles Street and Standish Avenue corridor, as well as the Pleasantdale and Englishtown sections of town, West Orange police added.

There are signs erected at all entry points into the township that advise of parking restrictions, including no overnight parking on any street unless otherwise posted, police told Patch.
“No parking from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. has always been enforced in residential sections of the township, and if the midnight patrol officers haven’t been inspecting this function, then that is a supervision problem which will be dealt with internally,” police said.

At least one resident of Fairmount Terrace said he and other neighbors were “surprised” to wake up to see tickets festooning car windshields up and down the block on Sunday morning, however.
“I want West Orange to succeed, and I support efforts to make the town more like Montclair, with more trees, walkable business districts, etc.,” Robert Wagner told Patch. “But we simply don't have double-wide driveways and multi-car garages in town – it’s too dense for a parking restriction like this.”
