West Orange Resident, 88, Dies After Crash On Parkway: Authorities
A car crash on the Garden State Parkway claimed the life of a West Orange resident, state police said.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — A car crash on the Garden State Parkway claimed the life of a West Orange resident last weekend, authorities said.
The crash took place at 10:44 a.m. on Saturday in Aberdeen Township, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson said. The deceased was identified as Joan Butler, 88.

“A preliminary investigation indicates that a Ford passenger vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder southbound in the local lanes. The driver attempted to maneuver the vehicle across all three lanes of travel and was struck by a Lexus NX. As a result, the driver of the Ford, Joan Butler, 88, of West Orange, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Bayshore Medical Center and later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Lexus, a 49-year-old male [from] Middlesex, sustained minor injuries.”
A police investigation continues, authorities said Monday.
