West Orange Restaurant Says Some Of Its Prices Are Going … Down?

In a time of inflation, a West Orange eatery says it's bucking the trend as some of its own food costs come down.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — In a time of widespread inflation and allegations of price gouging in the food industry, a West Orange restaurant says that it will be bucking the trend and lowering the cost of some items.

As prices for some key ingredients start to come down, Bagels By Jarrett will be passing on the cost savings to its customers and dropping the cost of every pizza, calzone and stromboli it sells by $2, the business announced Sunday on social media.

“Every pizza dough item is going from $20 to $18 and will hold there if these current prices last,” Bagels By Jarrett added, getting some thumbs-up for being “honest.”

The local restaurant first got a foothold in the West Orange dining scene with its eponymously named bagels, but soon expanded into other food fare, such as pizzas and sandwiches. And it’s not just dough-related items that are costing less to procure – “Romaine [lettuce] is no longer $96 a case,” its owner announced on Jan. 29.
