West Orange School District Earns Award For Its Music Program
It's music to West Orange's ears.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — It’s music to West Orange's ears.
Earlier this week, the NAMM Foundation announced the recipients of its 2024 Best Communities for Music Education Awards. The national awards recognize K-12 schools and school districts throughout the United States for maintaining the “highest commitment to producing exceptional music programs.”
This year’s list included the West Orange Public School District – the sixth time it’s earned the award.

“These leaders offer an extraordinary model of teaching that ignites a foundation of success we can all honor and celebrate,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO.
According to district administrators, West Orange schools offer several opportunities in music with the K-8 curriculum: music appreciation, recorders, orchestra and band beginning in fourth grade, choir, Jazz Band, and theater arts are only the beginning of what is offered.

High school programs include theater, dance, choir, jazz band, Step, Glee Choir, Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, String Quartets, and Royal Strings.
