West Orange School District Hires Interim Superintendent

Dr. C. Lauren Schoen has served as superintendent in Rochelle Park, Ramapo-Indian Hills High School District and Mahwah Township.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Board of Education announced Monday that it has hired Dr. C. Lauren Schoen as the district’s interim superintendent.

Schoen will start her employment with the West Orange Public School District on March 1. She’ll be taking the reins from Scott Cascone, who will be resigning from his post to seek another professional opportunity. Read More: West Orange School Superintendent Announces Resignation

“Dr. Schoen is a 33-year educator, having previously served as superintendent of schools for the Rochelle Park School District, the Ramapo-Indian Hills High School District, and the Mahwah Township School District. She has also served as the interim superintendent for the Fort Lee Public School District. In 2015, Dr. Schoen was selected as the New Jersey Association of School Administrators Northern Regional Superintendent of the Year. She served as president of the Bergen County Association of School Administrators, and co-chaired the NJASA Spring Leadership Conference Committee from 2011-2019. The board is pleased to have such a seasoned professional serving as our interim superintendent as the board embarks on commencing the hiring of a full-time superintendent.”
