West Orange Schools, Police Investigate ‘Bobby The Clown’ Instagram Post

"Bobby the Clown" posted a photo of West Orange High School and wrote "this school next hahaha," authorities say.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange authorities are investigating a “suspicious” Instagram post from an anonymous person identified as “Bobby the Clown” made on Monday.

According to a message from West Orange Superintendent Jeffrey Rutzky, the high school administration was made aware of a posting on Instagram “relative to West Orange High School” on Monday.

Rutzky wrote:

“The posting was made by an unknown individual, a.k.a. ‘Bobby the Clown,’ who posted a picture of the high school and wrote, “this school next hahaha.” The West Orange police are currently investigating this matter as the safety and security of our students, staff and parents is always the priority. At this time, the police indicate there have been no additional posts revealed and/or identified by the user about the high school or any other school in the district.”

West Orange schools were previously scheduled to be closed on Monday and Tuesday for Rosh Hashanah.

Rutzky stated that unless additional information is discovered, all schools in the district will be open on Wednesday, Oct. 5. District-wide after school activities and athletics will occur as scheduled.

An additional West Orange Police Department presence will be at the high school on Wednesday and will patrol around all of the other district schools, Rutzky stated.

Any information in reference to this incident or future suspicious activity should be brought to the attention of the West Orange Police Department immediately, authorities said.

School authorities stated that an update will be provided on Tuesday.
