West Orange Schools Release New Round Of Legionella Test Results

Testing has been taking place at all 12 schools in the district for Legionella bacteria, the organisms that lead to Legionnaire's Disease.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange school officials released results from the latest round of Legionella testing in the district earlier this week.

Testing has been taking place at all 12 schools in the district for Legionella bacteria, the organisms that lead to Legionnaire's Disease, a severe form of pneumonia commonly found in potable and non-potable water systems.

Acting Superintendent Eveny de Mendez discussed the most recent results of Legionella testing at the Dec. 11 Board of Education meeting. Mendez provided the board with a memo in advance of the meeting, which appears in full below.
