West Orange Skatepark Opens After Years Of Waiting

West Orange scored some points with local skateboarders when the township opened a long-awaited skate park.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange scored some points with local skateboarders earlier this week when the township opened a long-awaited skate park on Rose Terrace.

The West Orange Skatepark opened Sunday to an enthusiastic crowd, music and giveaways. (See photos from the grand opening here)

The park, which was financed by about $225,000 in town funding and bonds in 2010, reportedly came about after more than 300 area youth presented West Orange officials with a petition asking for a safe space for skaters in the area to practice and hang out.
