West Orange Student Orchestra Plays Carnegie Hall Concert
"They brought the house down with their exciting performance … it was a very special day for our students."
WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange High School student orchestra inspired some hometown pride when they performed as part of the Symphonic Series for Bands and Orchestras at Carnegie Hall.
Taking to the stage under the direction of Dr. Elena Peres on April 3, the students performed:
- "Sonatine in E Minor," from Violin Sonata No. 28, K. 304 (Mozart)
- "Symphony No. 15 in G Major," K. 124 IV. Presto (Mozart, arr. S. Dackow)
- "Fantasia on an Original Theme," (Joseph Phillips)
- "She Will Hang the Night With Stars," (William Hofeldt)
- "For the Star of County Down," (Traditional, arr. Deborah Baker Monday)
Peres said the students’ performance was “magnificent.”
