West Orange Teachers Share 'Wish Lists' Ahead Of NJ Sales Tax Holiday

WEST ORANGE, NJ -- Teachers from across the West Orange school district have created Amazon "wishlists" with items they need for the coming school year, just in time for a statewide sales tax holiday.

On Friday, the West Orange Public School District launched its #WOClearTheList campaign.

"Let's come together as a community and do what we can to support our educators and our students and clear the list," administrators said.

New Jersey officials will offer residents a chance to save money on back-to-school items during this year’s sales tax holiday, scheduled between Aug. 27 and Sept. 5. Read More: New Jersey Sales Tax Holiday: When To Save On Back-To-School 2022

Back-to-school shoppers in New Jersey will save money on all school essentials. According to the New Jersey Division of Taxation, here are some of the items that qualify for the reduced sales tax:

• Art supplies
• Binders
• Cellophane tape
• Composition books
• Folders (expandable, pocket, plastic, and manila)
• Pencil boxes and other school supply boxes
• Protractors
• Ballet and tap shoes
• Goggles
• Mouth guards
• Computer Printers with a sales price of less than $1,000
• Printer supplies for computers, printer paper, and printer ink
• Handheld electronic schedulers (except devices that are cellular phones) with a sales price of less than $1,000.
• All computers with a sales price of less than $3,000
• Reference maps and globes
• Calculators
• Textbooks
• Gloves (baseball, bowling, boxing, hockey, and golf)
• Shin guards
• Shoulder pads
