West Orange Volunteers Are Going The ‘Extra Mile’ For Change

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Volunteers with several municipal committees and nonprofits in West Orange recently got a big thank-you for their efforts at a recent town council meeting.

West Orange is one of the hundreds of towns that participates in the nationwide Extra Mile America program, which encourages people to “do more than just wish for change.”

Mayor Susan McCartney spotlighted a range of local volunteers who are making a difference for their community, calling for a special recognition at the Nov. 12 council meeting.

“We are here tonight to recognize those individuals who have served and volunteered to serve to affect positive change in the community,” McCartney said.

Members of the West Orange committees and organizations recognized at the meeting included the West Orange Planning Board, West Orange Zoning Board of Adjustment, West Orange Historic Preservation Commission, Downtown West Orange Alliance, West Orange Library Board of Trustees, West Orange Environmental Commission, West Orange Open Space Commission, Older Adults Advisory Board, Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board, West Orange Human Relations Commission, West Orange Arts Council, Mayor's Program for Uniquely Gifted Individuals, West Orange Economic Development Commission, Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center Board of Directors, West Orange Public Relations Commission, West Orange Municipal Alliance, Renna House Board of Directors, and the West Orange Animal Welfare League.
