West Orange Water Alert: 'Musty' Water Due To Algae

The Township of West Orange issued the following release on Wednesday night:

“New Jersey American Water (NJAW) has advised that customers in West Orange may notice an earthy, musty taste and/or odor. An algae bloom at the source reservoir has been attributed as the cause. The water is being treated at the source to help remove the two nontoxic compounds that cause the taste and odor. The water in question meets Federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards, NJAW said. The water company apologizes for any inconvenience.”
