West Orange Women Robbed At Gunpoint: Report

An early morning armed robbery took place in West Orange near Lakeside and Ashland avenues, a report says.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — An early morning armed robbery took place in West Orange on Tuesday near Lakeside and Ashland avenues, a report says.

According to a police report, a pair of female victims told officers that two men – who were standing outside a car and “appeared to be stretching” - accosted them as they walked to a bus stop on Main Street, NJ.com stated.

Police said that during the encounter, the suspects – one of whom had a handgun – tried to grab the women’s purses, and one was shoved to the ground when she refused to surrender hers, NJ.com reported.

The suspects then fled in the car east toward High Street in Orange, the victims stated.

Both women refused medical treatment, authorities said.

The women described one suspect as an African-American male about 5 foot 7 inches and between 20 and 30-years-old with a short haircut, wearing a dark sweatshirt and black pants, according to a police report.

The victims described the other suspect as a male about six feet and about 20 and 30-years-old with short hair.
