Whole Foods Market Donates to Greater Newark Conservancy

Cash will support Newark-based Urban Farming/Food Access Initiative

Greater Newark Conservancy representatives recently accepted a Whole Foods Market donation of $9,430.00. The cash represents five percent of the net sales made at Whole Foods Market stores in West Orange, Millburn-Union and Montclair on Jan. 13.

The Conservancy will use the funds to support its Urban Farming/Food Access Initiative, which strives to provide access to healthy nutritious foods for Newark's low-income, inner-city residents. The donation will allow the conservancy to expand the program’s footprint by establishing nearly two dozen additional new urban farms on city-owned lots in Newark. Learn more at www.citybloom.org.
