West Orange High School Open House For Prospective Students And Parents

West Orange High School will open its doors for Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 20th for prospective parents within and outside of the West Orange community. Parents who wish to take a tour of our state-of-the art facilities can do so at 6:00 pm beginning in the auditorium. Tours of key campus areas of learning and activity will be led by the Mountaineer Mentors, a select group of student volunteers who provide leadership and service to the West Orange High School community.

At 7:00 pm, Principal Hayden Moore will address parents while highlighting West Orange High School’s innovative programs and remarkable accomplishments. Thereafter, Instructional Supervisors and Program Coordinators will present the high school’s challenging and comprehensive academic offerings.

Newly approved course curriculum pamphlets with new classes and electives for the 2015-2016 academic year will be distributed. West Orange High School offers the Institute of Math & Science, the Institute for Humanities, the Institute for Civic Empowerment, Air Force Jr. ROTC, 23 Advanced Placement courses, 36 honors level courses, 24 athletic teams, 63 co-curricular activities, and 12 National Honor Societies as well as other programs available to support the academic growth of each and every student in the West Orange district.

West Orange High School has been recognized by either Newsweek Magazine or the Washington Post as one of America’s Top Public High Schools.

Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Operations & Activities, Dr. Kimberly Mancarella, stated, “This evening is scheduled early in the school year so that families are well informed about all that WOHS has to offer as they make decisions about choosing the right high school for your son or daughter. During April, we will also host an evening for incoming parents and students where our co-curricular programs and athletic teams are showcased.”

“Every event and every activity at West Orange High School is an open house to us,” said Principal Hayden Moore. “The Mountaineer Partnership in Pride campaign envelops all of our campus activities and the community is always encouraged to attend and participate.”

West Orange High School is competitive with its peers in educational accolades with a high level of staff earning Master Degrees as well as Doctorates, receiving multiple Essex County Educator of the Year Awards, as well as having an Education Medal of Honor Recipient. Campus facilities include new science laboratories, a music wing, new art studios, a distance learning center, and a CISCO certified training laboratory all complimented by our state of the art athletic complex.
