Women’s History In West Orange: Art Exhibit Spotlights ‘The Power Of Her’

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC) will present "The Power of HER," a community exhibition in celebration of Women’s History Month, on view through March 31 at the West Orange Arts Center, 551 Valley Road. Gallery hours are Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.
Exhibiting artists include Judyann Affronti, Karen Boss, Andrew Craig Burger, Kiran Dhaliwal, Sandra Gola, Ellen Hark, Kathleen Heron, Brenda Hendrickson, Carol T. Jenkins, Joanne Leone, Orlett Pearson McCall, Olive Ross, Tamari Robin Santos, Ameerah Shabazz, and Glendora Simonson. All are invited to attend a Meet the Artists’ Wine & Cheese Reception on Sunday, March 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
According to the WOAC, the exhibit uplifts art, culture and the powerful voices of women through a vibrant showcase of creative expression. The exhibition features work in various media, including painting, drawing, photography, digital art, mixed media and printmaking.

Artists were invited to submit work reflecting themes connected to Women’s History Month, creating a rich and inclusive cultural dialogue.
“This exhibition is about honoring stories that deserve to be seen and heard,” WOAC board member and town council member Tammy Williams said.

“HERstory celebrates resilience, creativity, and the vital contributions of women in our community and beyond,” Williams said. “It’s a powerful reminder that art connects us across generations and experiences.”
