14-Year-Old Attacked in Ridgefield Park, Police Seeking Information

A 14-year-old Ridgefield Park boy was allegedly assaulted by four other boys Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A 14-year-old Ridgefield Park boy was allegedly assaulted due to his ”sexual preference,” police said.

The boy was walking alone in a residential neighborhood Tuesday when four boys approximately 14 to 15 years old allegedly assaulted him between 3 and 3:30 p.m., police said.

The boys “physically assaulted” the 14-year-old before leaving the area, the release said.

Police are treating the incident as a “bias offense” due to comments made during the assault about the allegedly victim’s “perceived sexual preference,” authorities said.

Authorities are unsure of the exact location in town, but it allegedly occurred in the northern part of town, authorities said.

Two of the attackers could be Hispanic, one with a “medium” complexion and one with a “darker” complexion, police said.; one allegedly was wearing a polo shirt with a white design on the front, the other allegedly was wearing a red T-shirt with white-colored, medium-sized polka dots.

The other two attackers’ had “darker” complexions, but police do not have an idea of their races or ethnicities, authorities said.
