Alligator Captured From Passaic River
Alligator was captured around noon, about three and a half hours after it was first spotted in Elmwood Park.

An alligator spotted in Passaic River earlier today has been captured.
Authorities captured the alligator in Elmwood Park today after a boat was launched to get close enough to the creature, NorthJersey.com reported.
Fisherman Luis Acosta spotted the alligator around 8:20 a.m. while he was fishing for carp, the website reported.

Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said the animal is an American alligator between 4 and 7 feet long, according to the report.
Foligno previously said the alligator was close to the shore and then swam out into the river.

The chief said that the animal grew to be too big ”in all likelihood” and its owner dumped it, Cliffviewpilot.com reported.
