HILLSDALE, NJ — Prosecutors are investigating an overnight fire that destroyed a home in Hillsdale, they said Wednesday.
Jeff Angermeyer, chief of detectives for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, said first responders headed to a house on Piermont Avenue just before 1 a.m.
Several people were treated for minor injuries suffered in the blaze, he said. But he described the fire as "serious."
"Arson investigators from the Prosecutor's Office responded to the scene and initiated an investigation with the Hillsdale Police Department and local fire officials," he said. "No other information is available at this time while the investigation is underway, but more details will be released when possible."
The Hillsdale Fire Department asked residents to avoid the area on Wednesday morning.
