WESTWOOD, NJ — WestwoodFest is returning Saturday with an afternoon of music, games, local organizations and activities marking the United States' 250th anniversary.

The fifth annual festival will run from 2 to 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, at Broadway and Third Avenue, according to the Borough of Westwood's calendar.

The borough also lists the program as "Westwood Fest & Emergency Services Day," bringing an emergency-services component to the community celebration. The listing does not identify the participating agencies or provide details about any demonstrations, vehicles or public-safety activities.

Celebrate Westwood, which is co-hosting the festival with the borough, describes WestwoodFest as a family-friendly afternoon focused on building community spirit and celebrating local volunteerism.

Organizers say the event will include live music, games, inflatable attractions, arts and crafts and opportunities to interact with civic organizations. Local nonprofit organizations and businesses will also be showcased.

This year's celebration will recognize the nation's 250th anniversary with patriotic attractions and games for children. A special historical reenactment will offer a look at life in early America.

Sports organizations, civic groups and businesses were invited to participate with information tables and activities. Licensed Westwood food businesses were also invited to serve as concession vendors.

For residents, the festival offers a chance to spend an afternoon in the park while learning more about the organizations, businesses and volunteers active throughout Westwood.

The borough lists Sunday as the rain date.
