At Tonight's Township Council Meeting: 2010 Salary Ordinance
Members of the Washington Township council are expected to vote on whether to approve the ordinance setting salaries for the year

At tonight's Washington Township council meeting, government officials are scheduled to vote to approve the 2010 salary ordinance. This measure would set the pay for township employees for the year.
Most employees are set to receive a 2 percent pay increase with the ordinance. One exception is the position of administrator, which has been a heated topic for several months. The proposed ordinance has the salary at $89,000. In 2009, the pay was $97,913. The difference can be explained by the appointment of Lilly Chin as acting township administrator. Before taking over that position, Chin was the purchasing agent for the township.
The ongoing debate has involved the majority of the council pitted against Mayor Janet Sobkowicz, who wants Chin to remain as the township's administrator. Most of the council would prefer someone in the position who has more administrative experience. The township is currently .
