UPDATE: Bridge Inspector's Body Found In Passaic River Wednesday

Efrain Grajeda, 47, of Monroe Township was inspecting a footbridge that goes over a brook in Rutherford.

The body of a 47-year-old bridge inspector who was swept into the Passaic River Monday has been found in Rutherford, authorities confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

Efrain Grajeda’s body of Monroe Township, was found at 6:18 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Passaic River in Rutherford, NorthJersey.com reported.

Grajeda was one of two bridge inspectors who was checking out a footbridge over the brook near President Street and the Home Depot, according to published reports. Heavy rains caused the water level to rise from a few inches to 11 feet in Weasel Brook.

Police and fire departments from Bergen and Passaic counties searched the Passaic River Monday and Tuesday with boats and divers and investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were at the site of the accident Tuesday morning, the report stated.
