Bergen County Man Arrested After 'Inappropriate Conduct' With 5 Boys: Authorities

Timothy Wells allegedly had 'sexually explicit conversations' with five juvenile boys, authorities said.

A Bergen County man has been charged with luring, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of marijuana as a result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, authorities announced Friday.

Timothy Wells, 58, was arrested and charged Thursday following an investigation after authorities learned he allegedly “engaged in inappropriate conduct and sexually explicit conversations” with five juvenile boys in various locations. The inappropriate conduct took place in his home and a local hotel between November 2014 and March 2015, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Wells’ alleged conversations had to do with using controlled dangerous substances and his wish to provide the boys with those substances, Molinelli said.

Authorities interviewed the five boys after one of their parents reported to the Teaneck Police Department about an alleged conversation one of them had with Wells, according to Molinelli.

Authorities found several video tapes, computer media, and a substance believed to be marijuana during a search of Wells’ Teaneck residence, Molinelli said.

Wells was charged with luring and possession of marijuana under 50 grams and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Bergen County Superior Court Judge Margaret M. Foti set bail at $50,000 with no 10 percent option, which Wells was unable to post. Wells was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
