UPDATE: Bergen Man Held In North Korea Released, Report Says
Joo Woo-moon, a 21-year-old New York University living in Tenafly, was arrested in April for illegally entering North Korea.

Won-moon Joo, a South Korean student living in Tenafly, who was arrested in April was released to South Korean officials today, CNN.com reported.
Joo, a 21-year-old New York University student, was arrested in the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea after he illegally crossed into the country from China. He was released to South Korean officials at the border , the report states.

Joo said in a CNN interview in May that he thought by entering North Korea he would spur “some great event that could happen and hopefully that event could have a good effect on relations” between the Koreas.
The two Koreas are technically still at war since no peace treating was ever signed following the end of the Korean War more than 60 years ago.

North Korea said at the time of Joo’s arrest that his illegal entry was a “serious violation” of its laws, the report states.
The South Korean Unification Ministry said in a statement it was relieved Joo was released, CNN.com reported.
