Edgewood Country Club Hosts Aaron Krickstein, Former ATP Tennis Great, with 12 ATP Tour Titles, For Tennis Clinic and Exhibition Match

On Sunday, June 11, 2017, Aaron Krickstein, former #6 tennis player in the world, held a tennis clinic at Edgewood Country Club (https://www.edgewoodnj.com/), which was followed by an exhibition match with the Club’s head tennis professional, Anton Bobytskyi.

Aaron Krickstein achieved a top ten ranking in the world in 1984, 1985, 1989, 1990 and 1991. His highest ranking was # 6 in the world in 1990. Krickstein holds two records that still stand today: He is the youngest player to win an ATP Tour event at age 16 and is also the youngest to reach the world’s top 10, at age 17. He won 12 professional tournaments during his 13 year career and had his best record at the US Open with 27-10, reaching the semifinals once and the quarterfinals twice.

According to Todd Zorn, CCM General Manager at Edgewood, “This day is just one example of how we, at Edgewood Country Club, are always looking to create new experiences for our members, help them improve their own game and have a lot of fun in the process. We are confident that everyone, from our youngest players to our senior members and their guests, enjoyed this tennis clinic led by Aaron and exhibition match against our own head tennis pro, Anton. It was an exciting opportunity to see the game played by two world-ranked players.”

The score of the match was Krickstein 8-6 in an 8- game pro set.

In his native country, Bobytskyi was ranked #1 in Ukrainian junior tennis, #10 in men’s tennis and went on to become a member of the Ukrainian Davis Cup team. He was also ranked #44 in singles and #39 in doubles in Division 1 (Intercollegiate Ranking), when he played in position #2 for Oklahoma State University. He is also ranked #12 by the American Platform Tennis Association (APTA) in men’s doubles, has competed in several platform tennis tournaments in the area and is a member of the APTA Clinics & Exhibitions Committee. Bobytskyi is certified by the Professional Platform Tennis Association (PPTA) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and is a Wilson Tennis Advisory Staff member.

Edgewood’s 2017 tennis program includes a robust junior program, a variety of clinics, and full- day golf and pool activities with tennis; Family Days, Twilight Tennis, Tennis and Dinner Series, round robins and other tennis socials, as well as exciting member-guest tournaments.
