Mel DiGiacomo is a nationally known photographer working for Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, NY Times, People, Paris Match, Tennis Week and others during the past thirty years. He has published several books including a photo essay of Harrington Park and Tumperbee, photographs of Antigua. Perhaps his most compelling images come from the waterfront of Jersey City, N.J. Children and families swim in the Hudson, dive from the piers, play on abandoned cars and take a summer nap. Taken in 1980, with the newly completed World Financial Center in the background, they now symbolize a lost innocence, a bygone era in America and a simpler world.
