Fire And Arrest At Washington Town Center

Local FD and PD worked to put out a fire Wednesday morning

The Washington Township Police received a 9-1-1 call from the Washington Township Library reporting a fire on the roof of the Town Center Wednesday, Jan. 4, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police said.

The Washington Township Fire Department, Paramus Fire Department, Hillsdale Fire Department, River Vale Ambulance Corp, Westwood Police Department and Hillsdale Police Department came to the scene. Lt. Gregg Hackbarth and Cpl. Arsenio Pecora were also dispatched with the Township Fire Department, police said. They evacuated the Town Center.

Police reported a working fire at the Wing Lee Restaurant upon their arrival. The fire started in the kitchen of the restaurant and then extended through the roof, police said. The Fire Departments extinguished the fire.

The Township Police Department received another call during the fire, reporting a fight behind the Town Center. Hillsdale Police Officer Sean Smith, already present from the fire call, took all parties into custody and complaints are pending, police said.
