Hillsdale Mayor Blasts DPW For Poor Road Conditions

The roads were not salted until late Tuesday, when they should have been earlier in the day, Mayor Doug Frank said.

HILLSDALE, N.J. — Mayor Doug Frank was not happy with the conditions of the roadways Wednesday morning, the day after 13 inches of snow and sleet blanketed the area.

The Hillsdale Police Department posted a letter from Frank to residents on its Facebook page. In it, Frank criticized the Department of Public Works' response to the storm, specifically, when salt was spread on local roadways. Frank said the roads were in "terrible condition."

"[The] DPW waited until late in the day yesterday to salt our main roads. They should have done this in the early afternoon," Frank said. "They did not keep up with the high volume of snow on them either. Had they done that, we would not have the conditions we have now."
