How Sweet the Sound!

Tri-M members to perform at The Winter Coffeehouse this Thursday, Jan 30th.

Want some music with your coffee? No problem. The Winter Coffeehouse, scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 7:00 pm at Pascack Valley High School (PVHS), offers up a blend of both. Enjoy the musical talents of members of the PVHS Tri-Music Honor Society and other PV musicians as they treat audience members to solo, duet and small group acts at the Winter Coffeehouse in the cafeteria of PVHS, which is located at 200 Piermont Ave, Hillsdale, NJ.

Tickets to this popular annual event can be purchased in advance for $5 from Tri-M Music Society members, or at the door for $8 on the night of the event. All of the sale proceeds will be donated to music programs at underserved schools in order to promote the message of the vital role of music and the arts to enrich, entertain and engage communities.

The mission of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is to spread awareness and appreciation of the arts in schools and in the community. To qualify for membership in the Tri-M Music Honor Society students must be enrolled in a full period music course such as Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Concert Band, or Concert/Marching Band, and be involved in the music community in their school and beyond. Several of the inductees are members of the prestigious Bergen County, Regional, All-Eastern, and All-State choirs, bands and orchestras.

“Our students are truly making a difference,” said Argine Safari, Tri-M Music Honor Society advisor and the 2017 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year. “Through performance and community service, these students develop confidence, compassion, and creativity, as well as leadership skills that will help them excel in college and career. We hope to see many community members at this wonderful free event.”

“These events are so wonderful in order to show the PV community that music is important and special,” said Isabella Tjan, Tri-M chapter president. “It makes me so proud whenever I see students enjoying themselves while they perform; it demonstrates how essential it is as well as why it should be represented in every school."

“PV Tri-M members stay active in the community even after they graduate PV,” added Safari, who cited the participation of current and past PV Tri-M members at other recent community performances (December 2019) such as at the Christmas Vigil service in Christ Lutheran Church in Woodcliff Lake and singing for patients and staff of Hackensack Medical Center, where they also performed at the hospital’s tree lighting ceremony.
