Missing Bergen County Man Found Dead In Monroe Township

Alfred "Fred" Fiume, was reported missing earlier this week.

A missing Rutherford man reported missing earlier this week was found dead near a home under construction in Monroe, authorities said.

Alfred “Fred” Fiume, 53, was found in his 2007 Toyota near the home in Monroe, said Rutherford police Capt. Patrick Feliciano.

“He was well-known in this area and well-respected,” Feliciano said. “The Rutherford community lost a good man. He will be missed.”

James M. O’Neill, a spokesman with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, could not be reached for comment.

Authorities began searching for Fiume when he didn’t show up for work Tuesday morning.

Fiume got off the New Jersey Turnpike at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and his phone was pinged near Gravel Hill Road in Monroe Township at 7:57 a.m., state police said.
