New Offerings & Options @ THE GYM of Montvale

As THE GYM Montvale continues to expand its repertoire and offer its members more options, some fun and exciting new classes, programs and offerings are at the top of the list. With enhanced focus on the importance on integrated fitness regimens, cross-training, and new ways for members to reach their fitness goals this institution is fast becoming one of the most popular health and fitness destinations in the area! If you’re a long-time member of THE GYM, someone who’s ready to make that New Year’s resolution to get fit and enjoy the ride, or just looking for new ways to enjoy spending time at THE GYM, the reasons to join the fitness movement in Montvale, NJ are adding up!

“We are constantly striving to improve the member experience at THE GYM, and we understand how important it will be to continue doing so,” said Julann Kennish, General Manager of THE GYM. “Plus, with the addition of the teen classes within the Youth Program [see details below], there are even more fun ways for the younger members of our community to participate in more productive and healthier activities!” Lisa Bruchalski, Group Fitness Director, added “With the increasing competition and options available to people looking to join a gym or work towards a more healthy lifestyle, it has become increasingly important to keep the classes fresh and exciting, and to keep offering members as much choice as possible to help them reach their fitness goals in ways that fit into their hectic schedules.”

Yoga for Gym Ratz: The newest Yoga instructor at THE GYM Montvale, Amy Kovatis, will be hosting this class on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. Customize your Yoga moves to whatever sport or activity you do most.  Learn how to use Yoga to improve your performance. Check out the latest craze that professional athletes are doing!

Visual RPM: Each 55-minute Visual RPM class at THE GYM of Montvale will feature an instructor acting as a video DJ and putting together unique sets of music to make the spin workout more of a journey for the mind and body. Music videos, visually stimulating scenic videos, inspiring imagery of bike races and music-only sections will also be mixed in to give the classes a different and less predictable pace.

Performance IQ: In this class at THE GYM, a wireless display will compile individual and group performance on to a single screen, enabling indoor cycling studios to offer new class programming and allow monitoring of your performance data including heart rate, calories, power, and RPM in real time using group display or an app. Different modes enable participants to isolate core metrics including:
  • RPM/Power Mode: View your cycling data in real time.
  • Heart Rate Mode: Track your heart rate % and calories.
  • Functional Threshold Power Mode: Track and view your power output in terms of Functional Threshold Power.
  • Online Performance Tracking: Track your past performance in studios.
Teen Classes for Youth Program: Run for six week periods with the next session to be scheduled in early January, sign up your teenager (12-15 years old) for his/her choice of classes including Teen Yoga with Amy Kovatis), Teen Boot Camp with Morgan Lizotte and Jay Lally), and Teen Spin with Chrissy Flatt. Instructors were specifically chosen for their experience with kids. They are dynamic and will make sure your kids get some exercise and have a good time doing it!
  • $90 for a 6-week session / must sign up for 6 weeks / non-members welcome at same price
  • Walk-ins welcome at $20 per class
  • Each class will be 1 hour
  • One make up session per child
Advanced Kettleball Program: THE GYM Montvale is offering an Advanced Kettle Bell Program with Jay Lally for members only. The cost is $150 for 6 sessions. Members must have experience using Kettle Bells before signing up for this program. Take it to the next level with Jay, a 25 year fitness professional who holds certifications in Personal Training, Russian Kettle Bell, Sports Team Training, and Youth Fitness.  Jay is also a 45 year Martial Arts veteran and holds a black belt.

Self-Defense Class Expansion: Due to popularity, the self-defense classes with Jay Lally will have an expanded schedule. More details to be provided in the near future.

  • New Functional Training Room
  • 30 pieces of new strength equipment
  • New Life Fitness Treadmills, X-Trainers, Upright Bikes and Recumbent Bikes with interactive personal viewing screens
  • Renovated juice bar with the introduction of fresh, frozen fruit

And, THE GYM Montvale’s own personal trainer, Morgan Lizotte, has taken on a new class. Morgan is teaching a Total Body Strength class on Thursday mornings at 6:00am.
