The Nutcracker

Local dancers featured in Ballet Arts' production of the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker.

Ballet Arts is offering a full length production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, performed by the Ballet Arts Company and guest artist from American Ballet Theater's JKO school. The production features many local dancers from Westwood, Hillsdale and surrounding towns.

Alyssa McGlynn, a senior at Westwood High School, will dance the role of Snow Queen on Friday, as well as the Coffee and Chocolate variations. Daniela Saljanin of Woodcliff Lake will dance the role of Snow Queen on Saturday, as well as the Trepak and Chocolate variations. Kayla Schwartz of Washingon Twp. will dance the role of Harlequinn on Saturday, as well as Trepak and Chocolate variations. Megan McCusker of Park Ridge will dance the role of Columbine on Friday, Trepak and Chocolate variations.

Featured as the Cavalier is guest artist, Jacob Clerico from ABT's JKO school in NYC. The American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School is a pre-professional ballet training program for students, ages 12-20. Under the direction of newly appointed Artistic Director Cynthia Harvey, students thrive in an elite atmosphere dedicated to the success of each student. Admission is by audition only.

Many other local students will play other roles, as well as several local adults playing the grown ups in the party scene.
