Police Blotter: Motorist Issued Summons in Crash

A motorist was issued a summons Friday after failing to yield to another car at the intersection of West End and Lafayette avenues, which resulted in a collision.

received a call at 5:50 p.m. Dec. 17 reporting a crash. According to police, a vehicle attempting to make a left turn from West End Avenue onto Lafayette Avenue was struck by another vehicle traveling northbound on Lafayette Avenue in the right lane. After the vehicle traveling northbound hit the one attempting the turn, the turning vehicle rolled onto its side, trapping the three people inside, reports said.

The and mutual aid from surrounding towns went to the scene of the crash and extricated the occupants from the vehicle, police said. The three people in the rolled car were taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center and the driver of the other vehicle was taken by ambulance to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. According to police, their injuries were not considered life threatening or severe.

The driver of the vehicle that made the turn from West End Avenue was issued a summons for failure to yield.
