UPDATE: Power Restored in Hillsdale
The outages were caused by a transformer fire in Waldwick.
A transformer fire in Bergen County left over 1500 customers without power.
Hillsdale was one of the towns severely affected by the outages, power has since been restored. According to ABC7, some evacuations have been ordered in a half-mile area around the fire in Waldwick. The fire was reportedly caused by an equipment failure.
A Twitter user posted the following video of the fire in Waldwick, thick black smoke can be seen rising into the sky.
