Westwood Incumbent, Challenger Win Council Race

WESTWOOD/HILLSDALE, NJ — A challenger and an incumbent won the Westwood Borough Council election.

Incumbent Republicans Raymond Arroyo and Alyssa Dawson ran for re-election against Democrats Jodi Murphy and James Whelan.

Arroyo and Murphy won.

For the Westwood Regional Board of Education, five people ran for two, three-year terms: Andrew Gerstwayr, Paula Hill, Maria Straight, Lauren Letizia, and Joseph Abou-Daoud. Gerstmayr and Straight are incumbents.

Hillsdale has no contested elections this year.

Republicans Abby Lundy and John Escobar ran for the two council seats available. Lundy is an incumbent. The other incumbent, Scott Karcich did not seek re-election.

Kathleen O'Flynn and Shane Svorec ran unopposed for re-election to the local Board of Education while Michael Fronte ran unopposed to the regional Board of Education.
