Teaneck Rabbi Named Educator of the Year by Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (BCHSJS)

Rabbi Shelley Kniaz of Teaneck named Educator of the Year by Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (BCHSJS)

The Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies (BCHSJS), Bergen County’s only weekly Hebrew High School, will hold its Annual Gala Dinner on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. This year’s gala, the school’s largest fundraiser, will honor Rabbi Shelley Kniaz of Teaneck as Educator of the Year.

Rabbi Kniaz is the Director of Congregational Education at Temple Emanuel of Pascack Valley, where she is responsible for the Religious School, adult education and family programming. But her passion for and expertise in Jewish education reaches far beyond Temple Emanuel. Among her many accomplishments and past positions are serving as a synagogue school principal in Manhattan; teaching at a Solomon Schechter Day School; serving as Assistant Director of the USCJ Department of Education; writing and serving as a trainer for ETGAR, a synagogue school curriculum; and co-founding and co-directing KULANU NNJ, a Consortium of Congregational Schools and JFNNJ. She recently received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from JTS for 30 years of service in the rabbinate.
