Man Killed By NJ Transit Train In Westwood

The man was hit by the train at 1:40 a.m. near Broadway and Irvington Street, NJ Transit said.

WESTWOOD, NJ — A man died when he was hit by a NJ Transit train early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The unidentified man was hit at about 1:40 a.m. at Irvington Street and Broadway by the No. 2010 train, New Jersey Transit spokesman Nathan Rudy said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Rudy said.

The train departed Hoboken at 12:45 a.m. and was scheduled to arrived at Spring Valley, New York at 1:56 a.m., Rudy said.

Thirteen people were on the train, which was the last one of the night running on the Pascack Valley Line, Rudy said. No injuries were reported to any of those individuals. A bus was brought to the scene to bring those home.

Westwood and NJ Transit Police officers and EMS personnel responded to the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

Service was restored at about 5:15 a.m., Rudy said.
