Victoria Rose Salon Joins Downtown Westwood
The salon, which specializes in hair and make-up, recently opened up among Westwood's fashionable boutiques.

When Victoria Hortian and Anna Wolfe became friends at the age of 4, it was their dream to open a salon together.
Now, more than 20 years later, Hortian has opened her first salon in Westwood with Wolfe as a member of the small, skilled staff specializing in hair and make-up.
Victoria Rose Salon officially opened July 11 at 226 Fairview Avenue.

Hortian said she wanted the salon to be a "comfortable, but fashionable" environment. It was designed and decorated to have a SoHo feel, just like the neighboring .
"I want people to know that when they come in, they're going to have a warm welcome," Hortian said. "And they'll be happy when they leave."

In addition to enlisting her childhood friend, Hortian also has her mom working as a receptionist and her father helped with the renovations. Victoria Rose is both homegrown and backed up by years of experience, locally and abroad, from the salon's stylists.
Hortian, a Paramus resident, trained at the Capri Institute and worked at Cutting Loose in Rochelle Park for nine years. She then continued her training in England at London's Vidal Sassoon Academy before returning home to open her salon. She has also trained in make-up at the MAC Studio in New York.
She is joined by Wolfe and Mitchell Wenacur. Wolfe also studied at the Capri Institute and recently worked at Suzanne's Hair and Colour Room in Oradell. Wenacur has worked in New York at the Yves Claude Salon and more recently was also working in London. All three continue to take new classes on the latest techniques and styles.
"Ongoing education is very important at Victoria Rose Salon," Wenacur said.
