WEATHER ALERT: Flash Flooding, Thunderstorms To Hit Bergen, Passaic Counties

At least an inch is expected to fall across the region, and the region could get "clobbered" by floods, wind and road closures.

Bergen County is expected to get “clobbered” by heavy rain, thunderstorms and heavy winds Friday, according to forecasters.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue across the region Friday, with a slow moving cold front. There is the potential for locally heavy rain with thunderstorms, which could lead to flash flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 82. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Cities that can be “clobbered” with travel-disrupting downpours include Boston; New York City; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbia, South Carolina; Atlanta; Birmingham, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; and Lafayette, Louisiana, according to Accuweather.
