Westwood Considers $310,000 Bond For New DPW Loader

WESTWOOD, NJ — Westwood officials are considering financing the acquisition of a new loader for the borough’s Department of Public Works.

The mayor and council considered final adoption of a $310,000 bond ordinance Tuesday, September 1, according to the meeting agenda.

The measure would appropriate $310,000 for the loader, provide a down payment and authorize the issuance of bonds or bond anticipation notes to finance the remaining cost.

Council members also considered a resolution authorizing the purchase of what the agenda describes as a “loader truck” through the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey’s cooperative pricing system.

A loader is a heavy-duty vehicle with a front bucket that public works crews can use to move snow, debris and other materials.

For residents, the proposal represents a significant investment in the borough’s public works equipment.

The agenda does not identify the loader’s manufacturer, purchase price or the equipment it would replace. Meeting results were not immediately available on the borough’s website.
