Westwood Council Looks To Purchase New Radio Equipment: Report

Officials would appropriate $150,000 and bond another $142,000 to fund the project.

The Westwood Borough Council introduced an ordinance this week to purchase new radio equipment for its dispatch center.

The ordinance, when approved, would appropriate $150,000 to purchase a new radio console, NorthJersey.com reported. Additionally, officials would bond $142,500 to fund the project.

Mayor John Birkner said the upgrade is necessary and would make the borough more attractive so Westwood could enter into an agreement with neighboring municipalities to share dispatch services, the website said.
