Westwood Drivers Face Old Hook Road Lane Closures

WESTWOOD, NJ — Drivers who use Old Hook Road should prepare for lane closures, possible detours and changing traffic patterns as a gas system project gets underway next week and continues into November.

The work is expected to affect travel in both directions along a stretch of Old Hook Road, with intermittent construction beginning the week of Oct. 1.

PSE&G and its approved contractors will upgrade aging underground gas pipes with new piping along Old Hook Road near the borders of Closter and Harrington Park, according to a notice posted by Westwood.

Intermittent work is expected to begin the week of Thursday, Oct. 1 and continue through mid-November.

Multiple lane closures are expected on Old Hook Road between Bogert Mill Road and Schraalenburgh Road in both directions.

Work hours will vary Monday through Friday, with possible weekend work. The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. Detour signs will be posted in advance.

Officials advised drivers to allow additional travel time or plan alternate routes during construction.

PSE&G said it is working with affected municipalities and local police departments on traffic plans and temporary lane closures and detours.
