The Affinity Federal Credit Union will yet
again be participating in the annual “Stuff the Bus” initiative hosted by
United Way Foundation of Northern New Jersey. Affinity will have eleven
different branches of the credit union taking part in this admirable and
charitable event that will help more than 6,000 Somerset County elementary and
middle school students. The Affinity branches in Denville, Flemington, Country
Mile, Basking Ridge, Bedminster, AT&T, Middletown, New Providence,
Hillsborough and Edison, as well as the headquarters, will all be serving as
drop-off (and collection) locations.
Katie Ona, Affinity’s Member Experience
Director and Women’s Leadership Council of United Way committee member,
introduced the initiative to Affinity in 2013. The credit union displays a passion
for community service by giving back to this important cause. The initiative is
an effort to provide children from low to moderate-income families with
necessary school supplies for the upcoming academic year. These donated items
will mainly benefit children with working parents who can barely pay their
bills and do not have the extra money to buy simple school essentials. United
Way’s “Stuff the Bus” initiative is looking for basic supplies including, but
not limited to: backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils and toothbrushes. The
supplies donated during the drive will be collected on August 18 between 9 am
and 4 pm.
