Woodbridge Festivals, Events And More This Weekend And Next

The St. James Street Fair and Hispanic Heritage Festival are both Saturday, and the Halfway to St. Patrick's Day Party is Sunday:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — If you're looking for something to do in Woodbridge this weekend and next week, the Township has a lot of fairs, festivals and concerts planned.

Here's what's planned:

The St. James Street Fair: 10:00 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday on Main Street between Rt. 35 and the train tracks. The Hispanic Heritage Festival runs from noon to 5:00 pm on the other side of the tracks in front of Woodbridge Town Hall. Enjoy entertainment and food with arts & crafts and exhibitors.

Children’s Clothes Closet from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, otherwise known as the White Church.

Jazz Poetry Coffee House readings at the Barron Arts Center starting at 4:00 p.m. Saturday

Sunday morning from 8:00 to 11:00 am, the Woodbridge Elks has a breakfast to raise money for the Rolling Thunder motorcycle club.

Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., the American Irish Association of Woodbridge has its Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day event outdoors at the Acacia Center at 95 Port Reading Avenue, where they are honoring local heroes in Woodbridge Community Appreciation Day.

Monday night, Sept. 18, the Woodbridge Elks have a Car Show from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in their parking lot.

The Ganesh Festival will be at Woodbridge Center starting Tuesday.

Woodbridge businesses are invited to the Chamber of Commerce mini-golf event behind the Woodbridge Community Center on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

And finally, Woodbridge's last scheduled Summer Concert is Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at Parker Press Park featuring the Harlem Gospel Travelers. Wednesday is also a lecture at the Barron Arts Center featuring “On The Brink: The Fight to Save Bees & Our Food Supply.”

Next week karaoke is Wednesday night at Curtains at 7:00 pm, Latin Night is Thursday at 7:00 pm, Bob Z is playing Friday at 7:00 pm and comedian Goumba Johnny is appearing at the Avenel Performing Arts Center Saturday at 8:00 pm.

The Woodbridge PBA street hockey league has registration for this fall so go to woodbridgepbahockey@aol.com. Check the Trinity Church web site for information about a popcorn fundraiser.

On Sun., Oct. 1 at 3:00 pm at Parker Press Park, Woodbridge closes out a five-town Weekend Jazz Festival with “Alicia Olatuja” with the Woodbridge Jazz Choir as an opener and “Nine Deez Night” plays the last concert of the year at 7:00 pm at Parker Press a week later on Sun., Oct. 8.
