Amazon Giving Out Free Kindles At Woodbridge Library Thursday
Amazon is giving away 300 free Kindles to kids in Woodbridge, Edison, Carteret and Florence because that's where their warehouses are.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — *Editorial update, July 7: The 75 free Kindles are being donated to be on loan at the Woodbridge Public Library. They were not given out for free to 75 children. Patch regrets the error and any confusion.
Big news for Woodbridge, Edison and Carteret kids: Amazon has chosen the Woodbridge Public Library to receive 75 free Kindles tomorrow, Thursday, July 6. Amazon execs will be at the Woobridge Library Thursday at 11 a.m. to give out the Kindles to children enrolled in the library's summer reading program.
From there, they will head to the Edison and Carteret libraries to give out Kindles there, too.

Amazon is doing this to promote summer reading programs in four New Jersey communities. In total, 300 Kindles, with content, will be distributed to public libraries in Carteret, Woodbridge and Edison. Kindles were already delivered to the Florence school district in South Jersey.
Amazon chose these four towns because that's where their New Jersey warehouses are located, and they say they want to give back to the communities in which they sit. In fact, as Patch has reported, Amazon's largest fulfillment center in New Jersey is located in Carteret. The Carteret warehouse is Amazon's main hub in the mid-Atlantic area, from which they pack and ship items to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Amazon maintains 10 distribution centers total in New Jersey.

“We are excited to give back to the communities where our associates live and work,” said Avik Saha, director of operations at Amazon’s Robbinsville fulfillment center. “Kindles are a great way to make reading fun and engaging. They will be populated with summer reading lists and can store thousands of titles.”

After Woodbridge on Thursday, Amazon will head over to neighboring Edison to distribute Kindles to those enrolled in summer reading programs. They'll be at the Edison Public Library at 1:30 p.m.
