NEW JERSEY — Congressman Frank Pallone is the projected winner in the three-way Democratic primary.
The Associated Press called the race for Pallone at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday. Pallone received 70 percent of the votes, with 51 percent of votes counted as of 8:35 p.m.

Two far-left Democrats challenged Pallone: They are John Hsu and Katie Bansil. Both call for abolishing ICE, universal healthcare and universal childcare. Hsu was a top New Jersey campaign organizer for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign. This is Bansil's first foray into politics; she grew up in Woodbridge.
Pallone has been New Jersey's Sixth District's Congressman for the past 38 years, since he was first elected to Congress in 1988.
Pallone will run against Republican Hillary Herzig in November. She ran uncontested in Tuesday's primary.
New Jersey's Sixth Congress district represents the towns of Carteret, Woodbridge, Edison, Highland Park, Metuchen, New Brunswick, part of Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Piscataway, Sayreville, South Amboy, South Plainfield, Matawan, Aberdeen, Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, Bradley Beach, Deal, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands and Atlantic Highlands, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Long Branch and West Long Branch, the northern part of Middletown (south Middletown is NJ 4/Rep. Chris Smith), Monmouth Beach, Neptune City and Neptune Township, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright and Union Beach.
